The most recent archaeological evidence indicates that Sambaa Ke (Trout Lake) has been a traditional fishing site for at least 2000 years. 
There is a simple reason for this fact - the size and quality of the fish.

The Finest Freshwater Fishing in the North

For the past 30 years, Sambaa Ke has operated a small rustic fishing lodge 8 kilometres [5 miles] north of the community. The most popular game fish are lake trout (sambaa), pickerel (ehch'øê) and northern pike. (udaa)
